Alchemy at Lakmé Absolute Grand Finale

This season’s Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/ Resort 2017 had a medieval throwback through ‘Alchemy’, a gentle rendition of Rajasthan’s soft golden sands and lush, exotic verdure.

Alchemy traverses through deserts dotted sporadically with pastures and moors of green, seamlessly transporting that onto a palette bustling with earthy, natural, off-white hues, pastel pinks, blush-peach, aqua and sage, culminating into textural gold.

Kora and malkha organic fabric, tulle, silk organza and silk chiffon take centre stage, staying true to nature, with delicate embellishments of zardosi, dori and tonal embroidered intricate motifs. Alchemy’s signature resplendence, gota patti embroidery takes on a fresh perspective by creating a medley of zardosi, cord work and sequins.

The collection is designed to balance the surreal with the whimsical, the muse element being the landscape of Rajasthan. We enjoyed glory moments as Bollywood tasted Alchemy, with bells on!

Showstopper Kareena Kapoor Khan underpinned the Alchemy essence in her off-white gown and glistening gold jacket. As celebrities changed gears, Alchemy came out in full flow.

Nature-inspired prints hallmark spring

Shriya Saran with sleek ponytail and matching jhumkas

The sheer and breezy styles of flared crop tops, pleated elephant pants and blousons add to the contemporary diffusion character of the collection. Most pieces can be paired to dress it up or down as per the occasion.

This off-white pleated skirt and embroidered Malkha crop top on Kajal Agarwal recreates the magic of lush greens sprinkled with gold dust. Simple hairdo, minimalist jewellery, flower and vine motifs make this delightfully alchemic.

Nature-inspired prints hallmark spring, and Alchemy, with its abundance of flora and fauna prints, makes a lasting floral punch. Shriya Saran with a sleek ponytail and matching jhumkas lets the spirit of spring croon delightfully.

Pooja Hegde with conventional crop top

The organza jacket with its understated, barely-there embellishments make this go way beyond a two-piece set. Flared pants with their flower power render any ensemble composite yet classy. Pooja Hegde was a sight in an all-white ensemble with a dainty sheer paneling, a refreshing spin to the conventional crop top.

Pooja Hegde with bandi teamed up with black trousers

Gul Panag cut quite a dash in a gold and white tissue bandi teamed up with black trousers. Subtle gota patti lifted it overall, resulting in a fashion statement the ‘no-frills’ way.

Floor-length tunic and straight leg pants

Floor-length tunic and straight leg pants rule the roost. The forest-inspired tree motifs running through the tunic are a metaphorical allegory to the whimsical land that Alchemy weaves.

Juhi Chawla with sage green silk gown

Side-swept mermaid waves and matching gold and green-toned earrings are always on point. Juhi Chawla was fresh as a daisy in this sage green silk gown.

Sangeeta Bijlani with choli and sharara combination

Sangeeta Bijlani decided to let out her inner romantic, and this choli and sharara combination paired with the delicate organza jacket in aqua was just the deal.
