Anita Dongre Opens Doors to Flagship Store in Hyderabad
Anita Dongre throws open the doors to her first flagship store in Banjara Hills.
The store houses socially sustainable brand Grassroot, Anita Dongre Bridal Couture and Menswear, Anita Dongre Ready-to-wear, as well as Anita Dongre Silver Jewelry and Anita Dongre Pinkcity.
Occupying three stories, spanning across 4500 square feet, the store is an ode to Rajasthan’s rich culture that inspires much of the designer’s work. Each section is carefully curated into a holistic experience and tied together but the dreamy rose petal aroma of royal gardens of a time past.
Feel transported as you step inside a world of ancient craft forms preserved in collections from Grassroot by Anita Dongre – a brand that celebrates Indian craftsmanship in a contemporary manner.
Paying homage to the crafts of India is an installation of a vintage Pashtun heirloom which dates back almost 50 years that is a reminder of our beautiful craft legacy.
Guiding you along the way are handcrafted walls with geometric thikri work and hand-inlaid marble flooring. Follow these flight of stairs and you enter our bridal section. Leading you are our hand-painted floral butis that open to the majestic section where you will be greeted by our couture collection of lehengas, sarees, printed kaftans, and dresses for women; along with a curation of Anita Dongre silver jewelry and Anita Dongre Pinkcity.
In the foyer, which is again hand painted in gold, are our Chola-era inspired bronze statues.
Further in are lehengas framed by wall panels painstakingly hand painted by master artisans in Jaipur.
The seating nooks are adorned with cushions hand embroidered in zardozi and a majestic Tanjore Painting watching over you.
The walls are highlighted with hand-crafted thikri work and regal miniature paintings that keep you company as you make your way from one section to the other.
Our signature elephant logo motifs make appearances throughout the store. Created in-house, these depictions of the gentle giants is a background to the focal point of this section — our Tanjore Paintings – an opulent narration of Lord Krishan’s life that dates back almost a 100 years.
The second level houses our menswear collection where you can find our wide range of pocket squares, kurtas, bandis, and sherwanis for men.
The Anita Dongre store in Banjara Hills is a living, breathing celebration of Indian art. Across the garments and store features, what strikes you is the breadth and intricacy of Indian craftsmanship.
Rich gota pati, intricate embroideries and meticulous handwoven fabrics find place alongside inlaid floors, pichwai paintings, thikri mirror work and metalwork. Stone carvings, handmade rugs, antique lighting and furniture pieces provide little corners to unwind and discuss life’s important decisions as you’re making them.
