It’s no secret that I have a slight bias towards women’s clothing. Maybe, being a woman myself, it comes to me naturally. Nonetheless, the charm of a well-tailored kurta or sherwani isn’t lost on me.

As a designer and most importantly, as a creative person, I’d hate to hem in my imagination. This is one of the primary reasons why I have come to love designing menswear – it enables me to disrupt my comfort zone.

Speaking of my recent collection Alchemy in particular, I designed it with a very clear idea of my creative direction – it is an ode to the modern man. The modern man doesn’t shy away from tradition, yet he looks for contemporary familiarity.

Alchemy is all about that ease. Simple outfits, that can be dressed up or down characterise this collection. Think Sunday brunch with the family, or a daytime wedding function.

Letting simplicity take centre stage, I have teamed floral and vine detailing with hues of white and summer pastels like pink, blush-peach, flesh, aqua and sage with a whisper of gold. The whimsical yet exquisite motifs add a quirky touch to the clean-cut, structured tailoring of kurtas, bandis and sherwanis.

Details greet you with a pleasant surprise. Take for example this deer motif at the back, which dramatically elevates an otherwise understated outfit. Lightweight and breezy, the collection is crafted with attention to warm weather. Fabrics like organic handwoven cotton, silk and tissue add to the fun of sipping coolers in the sun.

If I were to talk about my favourite part about this collection – it has to be how effortless the outfits look and feel. Earthy tones come to life with accents of colour in the form of pocket squares, embroidered cuffs and necklines.

Speaking from experience, I know most men lean towards a simple and fuss-free style for weddings and functions. The trick is to pair their need for comfort with interesting details that breathe life into an outfit, details that are now left to you to discover.
